Domestic Flat Roofing Specialists in Dorset

Professional flat roofing solutions for homes, garages, extensions, and garden buildings across Bournemouth, Poole, and surrounding areas.

Overview

Domestic Flat Roofing, Built to Last

A flat roof is not just a roof without a slope. It is a layered system, and every layer earns its place: a vapour control layer over the deck, insulation cut to fall towards the outlets, and a waterproof covering welded on top. Get one layer wrong and water finds its way in.

We work on every kind of home in the area. Single garages and porches, rear and side extensions, bay windows, garden rooms, balconies, and the flat sections on new-build homes. Each one is surveyed on its own terms, because the right build-up for a detached garage is rarely the right build-up for a room you actually live in.

Homeowners come to a specialist for the detailing. Upstands, outlets, and the joints where a flat roof meets a wall or a pitched roof are where nearly every failure starts, and they are exactly the parts a general builder is most likely to rush. We do flat roofs all week, every week.

Our Process

How We Deliver Your New Roof

Step 1 of 4

Free survey & quote

We come out, get up on the roof, and look at what is actually there. Then we talk it through with you face to face, in plain terms, and follow up with a written quote. No obligation, and nobody chasing you afterwards.

Step 2 of 4

System selection

Single ply is one welded sheet with almost no joints, which suits larger or awkwardly shaped roofs. Felt is built up in layers, tougher on a budget, and ideal on a garage or porch. We tell you which one your roof actually needs, even when it is the cheaper one.

Step 3 of 4

Installation

Our own team does the work, so there is no stranger subcontracted onto your property. We agree parking and access first, keep the garden and drive clear, and sweep up at the end of each day. Most domestic roofs take two to five days.

Step 4 of 4

Sign-off & warranty

We walk the finished roof with you and explain what has been done before we pack up. Your 10-year Insurance-Backed Guarantee and 20-year warranty are then registered and handed over, so the cover sits with you and your home.

How We Work

Careful on Site, Built to Standard

A garage roof and an extension roof are not the same job. On a garage or porch, layered felt is hard-wearing and sensible, and there is no point paying for more. On an extension or garden room you are living under, we go to single ply and lift the insulation to current standards, because the comfort of the room below depends on it. New builds usually come with the falls already designed, so our job is to get the detailing right.

While we are with you, we work around the house rather than through it. Parking and access are agreed before the first van arrives, the skip goes where you want it, and the garden and drive are cleared at the end of every day. If you have children or pets, tell us and we will plan the access around that.

When we finish, your 10-year Insurance-Backed Guarantee and 20-year warranty are registered in your name. That cover is held independently, so it stands whatever happens to us in ten years' time. On the biggest thing you own, that matters more than a certificate in a folder.

Where We Work

We are based in Poole, so most of the homes we work on are within half an hour of the yard. Extensions, garages, and garden rooms across Bournemouth, Poole, and Christchurch make up the bulk of what we do, and we are out to Ringwood and around the New Forest most weeks. Southampton and the wider Dorset and Hampshire area are comfortably within reach.

Being nearby matters when it is your own home. If you spot something a year after we finish, we are close enough to come and look at it properly rather than booking you in for next month. Not sure whether we reach your postcode? Give us a ring and ask.

Questions, Answered

A modern flat roof will normally last 20 to 30 years if it is put on properly and the outlets are kept clear. That is a long way beyond the old pour-and-roll felt roofs they usually replace, which is why so many of the roofs we take off are on their second or third patch job.

Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we do. We strip the old covering off, check the boards underneath and replace anything soft, then put on a new felt or single ply system with the insulation and the falls corrected at the same time. Patching an old roof rarely buys you more than a season.

Very often. Extensions are our bread and butter, along with garages, porches, bay windows, balconies, and garden rooms. Because an extension is a room you actually live in, we pay particular attention to the insulation and to where the new roof meets the existing house.

We do. That can be a straightforward survey, a drone inspection if the roof is awkward to get to, or non-invasive electronic leak detection when you know there is water coming in but not where from. You get a clear picture of the roof before anyone quotes you for work.

Every roof we install comes with a 20-year standard warranty and a 10-year Insurance-Backed Guarantee covering both the workmanship and the materials. The IBG is held independently of us, so the cover stands regardless of what happens to any contractor down the line.

It depends on the size of the roof, how easy it is to get to, and which system it needs, so we will not throw a figure at you that turns out to be wrong. A small garage roof and a habitable extension are a long way apart. The survey and the written quote are free, and the quote sets out exactly what you are paying for.

Most single-storey rear extensions come under permitted development, but height, how close you are to a boundary, and whether you are in a conservation area can all change that. Building regulations apply either way, particularly on insulation. We build to current regulations as standard and will flag anything that looks like it needs consent.

Single ply is one sheet of membrane, hot-air welded at the joints, so there is very little to fail and it suits bigger or more awkward roofs. Felt is built up in layers, tougher on the budget, and a sensible choice on garages, porches, and smaller roofs. Both are a big step up from old pour-and-roll felt.
